San Rafael, California is located in Marin County, seventeen miles north of San Francisco. It is the county seat of Marin County and Marin’s largest city. It has 17 square miles of land and five miles of wetlands and water.
San Rafael was incorporated on February 18, 1874. The population of San Rafael is approximately 56,900.
