Marin County Summer Camps for Kids
Feb 18th, 2008 by Ginger Wilcox
Is it that time already? I got an email from Steve & Kate’s Camp about their pricing for the upcoming summer schedule. Wow! I can’t believe I have to start thinking about it already. Last summer, I waited too long and couldn’t get the kids in to some of the summer camps programs.
So, start planning soon to secure those summer camps spots! Here are a few Marin County summer camps to check in to.
- Belvedere Tiburon Rec- They have great camps for all ages . (no info posted yet on the web)
- Camp edventure More- Camp locations at Ring Mountain Day School in Mill Valley, Neil Cummins Elementary in Corte Madera and Wade Thomas Elementary in San Anselmo
- Camp Doodles - on the Strawberry Point Elementary campus in Mill Valley
- Bay Area Discovery Museum - variety of camps at the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito
- Marin Horizons - at Marin Horizons School in Mill Valley
- Marin Primary - Marin Primary School in Larkspur
- Mill Valley Rec - Camps on the Mill Valley Community Center and at Strawberry Recreation Center
- Ross Rec - Camps for a variety of ages at Ross Elementary in Ross
- Steve and Kate’s Camp - Camp locations in Tam Valley Elementary in Mill Valley, Bacich Elementary in Kentfield and Brookside Upper Elementary in San Anselmo

Another excellent summer camp choice for pre-K through 5th graders is Camp Galileo, which is expanding to Marin County this summer with locations in Mill Valley (Park School) and San Rafael (Short School). The Bay Area’s fastest-growing summer camp company, Camp Galileo offers a learning-made-fun summertime curriculum focusing on art, science and the outdoors developed in partnership with the de Young Museum, The Tech Museum of Innovation and Klutz.
Discounts are offered for three-week enrollments, as well as for enrolling by February 29th, 2008, with a possible savings of up to $110. To enroll, parents can call 1-800-854-3684 or visit http://www.campgalileo.com.
Kathy, sounds like a great addition to Marin’s summer camp options. Thanks for the information!
Ginger, I hadn’t really thought about it, but no really is the time those camps start filling up. I actually had emails from a couple of places here in Birmingham that were advertising their programs today.
oops… I meant now is the time….
Another great one- Slide Ranch at Stinson Beach
Thanks for the post! I am a Green MBA student at Dominican University and I am designing my masters thesis which is a green camp for kids. If you have kids between the ages of 10 and 14, I would love to interview you. Please contact me at theryan@gmail.com. And Thanks again for the post!
Ryan, I personally do not, but I hope some of my readers do. We recently had some Green MBA Domincan students come in to green my office!
Hi all,
I’m signing my kids up for summer camp at Dominican University. I sent my little boy and girl (ages 7 and 9) to the soccer and volleyball camps there last year. The camp is perfect for my work schedule because they are at camp from 9 to 4. I posted the link to the website below. My kids loved the Dominican camps and I will be sending them there again.

My son and daughter both have gone to the Marinwood Summer Camps in San Rafael for the past two years and I have been super impressed. They have the most caring staff, it’s affordable, and it’s by far the best “traditional” camp in Marin. I will also be sending both to Steve and Kate’s for a week or so but they love the staff at Marinwood and it’s a lot cheaper!
Good Luck all!
Carolyn & Emily,
Thanks for the great tips. So many of the camps are very high priced. It is nice to see some reasonable options. I know Marinwood has a great pool as well!
For the camps at Dominican, they put the kids into the pool once a day for an hour. They have a gorgeous pool. We ended up becoming members of their pool. It is also nice to hear about the Marinwood camps.
