Pacific Union is going green!

February 13th, 2008 By Ginger Wilcox

Pacific Union GMAC Real Estate is in the process of becoming a green certified business. I find this very exciting! The first visible step was in our busy little kitchen. We no longer have disposable plates, cups, etc. Instead we have washable plates, bowls & cups. The office is using post-consumer recycled paper towels and napkins. Those little individual sugars and creamers are replaced with larger containers to eliminate waste. All those plastic water bottles- gone!

I noticed my fax confirmations were being printed on reused paper.

Some of the steps to go green are pretty simple, others will take some adjustment. I am thrilled that Pacific Union GMAC real estate is taking the steps to help preserve our environment!

    Everything we can do helps.

Turning the lights and equipment off at night. Adjusting the a/c when office not in use. Recycling paper put boxes on desk and they have companies that come around and shred and recycle. We can send one staff member out to get everyones lunch instead of everyone heading out. Car pooliing to work those that do can leave 15 minutes early incentives go a long way. Covering our windows during peak hours of day to cut down on energy cost. How we landscape our exterior with zeroscapre requiring no water. Using drought tolerant plantings. Recycle toner cartridges and any office equipment and cellphones. It’s endless once you get started. Great Job!

We need to consider green homes and communities and support there existance.
