Yesterday was a fabulous day to set sail on the San Francisco Bay. We set out from the Sausalito harbor. Not a cloud in the sky and mild October temperatures set the stage for a gorgeous day.
This week is Fleet Week in San Francisco, which means parades of boats and the incredible Blue Angels. We motored out past the seals just as the Blue Angels lead plane hit the skies. We were front and center on the Bay when we heard the roar of the jet planes above our heads. All eyes scanned the skies and there they were- six blue planes in perfect synchronization- the world renowned Blue Angels.
The Blue Angels performed aerial acrobatics above the bay, frequently buzzing so close to our sail boat we could see the pilots. They would roar away and be hidden behind the Transamerica pyramid or the hills of Marin County until suddenly they were there again- passing each other upside down, doing corkscrew spirals in the air, and flying through the gates of the Golden Gate Bridge. It was an exhilarating show. Even the kids didn’t notice the roar of the planes- they were enthralled with the speed and agility of these beautiful planes.
At the end of the show, we headed back to the Sausalito harbor. It was the perfect day on the San Francisco Bay!

Looking at the Marin County median home prices for August is pretty depressing. The percentage change for many cities is down. Tiburon is down 38.23% since August of 2006. Does this mean home prices have dropped almost 40%??
No, they haven’t. Many Marin County areas only have a handful of sales each month. (Tiburon had 12, Larkspur 2, Corte Madera 7).
The median isn’t a great gage of what is happening in the market when you look at this few of sales. For the past couple of years, August has been a slow month for Marin real estate. August 2007 was exceptionally slow as both buyers and sellers waited to see what would happen in the Marin real estate market.
Initial numbers are in for August Marin real estate sales!
According to initial numbers, the median price is $1,045,000 for single family residential homes. The median price for all residential (including condos) is $947,000. This represents a 6.4% change over last year, and a 12.81% change over August 2005.

It is no surprise that a view of the sparkling San Francisco Bay can have a substantial impact on your property values. Views of the Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge or Angel Island are not the only views with a premium price tag. With Marin’s beautiful landscape, don’t forget about your views of Mt. Tam, Mt. Baldy or open space. SO, you pay a premium for a view of downtown San Francisco, how do you keep it?
